I started putting things like celery tops and raw chicken bones into a bag in the freezer to make a homemade frugal stock. We use a lot of stock in our cooking (I can't remember the last time I cooked quinoa with water), so it is great to have on hand. I roughly based this on a recipe from Martha Stewart's Cooking School book, which my fiancee got for Christmas.
It's not so photogenic, but yum!I made these nuts from the Gourmet Cookbook to snack on during the Oscars.
Since yesterday I reused the buckle of my old belt to make a new one, I thought today I would make the rest of my old belt into a new headband.
I used to think I really hated wearing a belt, but then I discovered that I only don't like ones made of stiff materials. Since my old belt was starting to fray into oblivion, I thought I would salvage the rings and make a new one.
Today I finished that GGRD Jeerleader shirt, but since I had promised myself I would do something else on the day that I finished that task I pushed myself to do one more (albeit lame) thing. I needed to send a check to a friend, so I decided to decorate the envelope with some rub-on transfers.
I hosted this month's meeting of Global Cooking Club at my house, and decided that it was a great excuse to flambe. Phil gave me the go-ahead since we just purchased home owner's insurance. Apparently lighting your Cheese Saganaki on fire is an American alteration to the original recipe.
